  1. Saline. Nasal saline can be purchased over the counter, or you could make a preparation at home. A nasal saline rinse is a holistic alternative to antihistamines. To make a nasal saline rinse at home, mix 8 ounces of warm water, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp of baking soda. Mix thoroughly. You can use saline as needed by squirting the liquid into the nostril and letting it exit out of the other side. This will help clear any nasal irritants and can be done as often as you’d like.
  2. Probiotics. Probiotics are live, healthy bacteria. Eat foods containing probiotics, such as yogurt to help lessen allergic rhinitis symptoms. Some research shows probiotics may change the way the immune system responds to allergies.
  3. Mandarin Oranges. According to the US Department of Agriculture, Owari Satsuma mandarins have a large quantity of synephrine, which is is a natural supplement that can help alleviate allergic symptoms.
  4. Relaxation. Stress can worsen, or even cause allergies. Practicing regular relaxation exercises can help reduce symptoms and reduce their frequency. Consider mindfulness meditation or yoga as a regular form of relaxation.
  5. Natural Soap Products. Using hypoallergenic soaps can help alleviate or soothe hives, eczema or other skin rashes.
